Cyst Removal
Epidermoid and pilar cysts are benign, slow-growing sacs beneath the skin, most often on the face, neck, back, and scalp. They may remain quiet for years, or become tender, inflamed, and drain.
Removal is performed in the office under local anesthesia. The goal is to remove the cyst wall intact, since leaving it behind is the most common reason a cyst returns. Inflamed cysts are usually calmed first with an injection and removed once the inflammation settles, which gives a better cosmetic result.
