Dr. Paola T. Chamorro

M.D. · Board Certified Dermatologist

For Dr. Chamorro, practicing dermatology in Miami is more than a career — it's a homecoming. Raised in Coral Gables, she is proud to care for the community that helped shape her. A graduate of Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart, she returned to South Florida after completing years of advanced medical training in New York and New Jersey to build her practice, raise her family, and serve the city she has always called home. Today, she and her husband have established their dermatology practice and are raising their two children in the same community where she grew up.

Biography

Dr. Chamorro is a board-certified dermatologist with expertise in both medical and cosmetic dermatology. She is known for her thoughtful, compassionate approach and for building lasting relationships with her patients. Whether treating a chronic skin condition, performing a skin cancer screening, or helping patients achieve their cosmetic goals, she believes every treatment plan should be individualized, evidence-based, and centered on each patient's unique needs.

One of the distinguishing features of Dr. Chamorro's career is her extensive medical training. She is among the relatively small number of dermatologists in the United States who have completed both a full Internal Medicine residency and a Dermatology residency. This unique background gives her a deeper understanding of the complex relationship between skin disease and overall health, allowing her to care for patients with both common and medically challenging dermatologic conditions.

Dr. Chamorro earned her undergraduate degree in Neuroscience from Vanderbilt University before receiving her medical degree from Ponce Health Sciences University. She then completed her Internal Medicine residency at Columbia University / NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, where she remained on faculty, practicing hospital medicine for three years and caring for patients with a wide range of complex medical illnesses.

Driven by a passion for dermatology, Dr. Chamorro went on to complete a research fellowship at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, where she investigated the use of reflectance confocal microscopy, an advanced imaging technology used in the diagnosis of skin cancer and inflammatory skin diseases such as psoriasis. She subsequently completed her Dermatology residency at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, where she was selected by her peers and faculty to serve as Chief Resident — an honor recognizing both her clinical excellence and leadership.

Today, Dr. Chamorro combines her broad medical expertise with the latest advances in dermatology to provide comprehensive care for patients of all ages. Her special interests include general medical dermatology, skin cancer prevention and detection, and cosmetic dermatology, with an emphasis on achieving healthy, natural-looking results.
