Nail Disorders

Nail changes may reflect fungal infection, psoriasis, trauma, inflammatory disease, or, less commonly, melanoma. Discoloration, thickening, separation, ridging, and pain each point in different directions.

Because treatment varies so widely, we confirm the diagnosis before treating, sometimes with nail clipping for culture or pathology. Any new or changing pigmented streak in a nail warrants prompt evaluation.
