Blistering Disease
Autoimmune blistering diseases such as pemphigus and bullous pemphigoid cause the skin or mucous membranes to blister and erode. They can be painful and, when extensive, medically serious.
Diagnosis requires biopsy with direct immunofluorescence and specialized blood testing. Treatment involves immune-modulating medication, wound care, and close monitoring, and is an area of particular expertise in our practice.
