Actinic Keratoses

Actinic keratoses are rough, scaly patches that develop on skin with years of sun exposure — most often the face, scalp, ears, forearms, and hands. They are often easier to feel than to see.

They are considered precancerous: a small percentage can progress to squamous cell carcinoma if left untreated. Treatment options include cryotherapy, topical field therapy, and photodynamic therapy, along with ongoing skin cancer surveillance.
